Now our boxes can sign for a delivery when you're out!
We have enhanced the functionality of our boxes by offering a simple and practical solution to the problem of 'signature on receipt'.
Customers can now purchase a simple barcode and PIN number card to attach to the interior of their box. The barcode will contain a code that is unique to them and fully compatible with the majority of courier companies' HHT (handheld terminal) systems. In those cases where companies operate paper-based systems the customer will be able to add three numbers to the pre-printed PIN number to create a unique number for each specific delivery.
Now when a delivery is made the driver simply holds their handheld terminal to the barcode attached to the door of your Hippo, Dormouse or Tortoise Box. The terminal reads and logs the number for proof of delivery (POD).
If the delivery company does not use barcode readers they can instead key in the unique PIN number to their handheld terminal. As you can see from the image, the last three digits of the pin number are for the client to write in using a marker pen, so ensuring that the number is unique to each household.
Please note: This item is only sold for use with our boxes -to protect the security integrity we do not sell barcodes for use on other boxes which may not be as suecure as our products.

Charles Gallichan, Founder and Managing Director of Giraffe Marketing commented on this development, "Whilst we have an ever increasing number of satisfied customers, we do recognise that the wishes of those receiving and those delivering the goods have not always been the same. End users simply want the goods delivered safely into their boxes, but a number of suppliers and couriers are insistent that POD exists. Now that couriers can record exactly when the parcel is delivered into the box, the problem is solved".
Providing a solution to the POD problem will not only help courier companies significantly reduce their costs - the Government's Logistics task force estimate that 60% of package deliveries 'fail' at the first attempt, resulting in costly call backs or customers having to travel to the depot. The solution should also help to further expand the home shopping market, as 49% of people state that they currently never home shop because of the hassle associated with delivery. Good for the environment too!
It is estimated that a staggering 60% of package deliveries fail the first time the delivery driver or postman tries to deliver them. So by reducing failed deliveries, the Hippo Box prevents wasted journies, helps reduce traffic congestion and so reduces the 'carbon footprint' of owners and delivery companies.
